Minamata to premiere at the Berlinale
Andrew Levitas’ Minamata is scheduled to premiere at Berlin International Film Festival, which is running from February 20 to March 1, 2020, in the “Berlinale Special” section.
Johnny Depp stars in the leading role as war photographer Eugene W. Smith who documented the Minamata disease, a neurological illness caused by severe mercury poisoning, that hit Minamata city in Japan in the fifthies.
Shooting took place the last spring in Serbia.
Minanata is written by David Kessler, Andrew Levitas, Jason Forman, Stephen Deuters and Johnny Depp is also credited as producer.
The biopic is expected to be released this year.
